Excerpt from Conan Doyle
You and I have disagreed about most things under the sun, and as you come from somewhere in North Britain I have been compelled to argue with you about every thing under the sun. But on one point at any rate we have always agreed the immense superiority of the Sher lock Holmes saga Over all other detective fiction. And although you are quite capable of disputing it, I think you agree with me that the Brigadier Gerard Stories are the best Short adventure-yarns ever written.

Informative in substance and readable in presentation. I had read it many years (sixty or so) before and wished to check on my recollection of incidents narrated. They had remained clearly with me, and were confirmed on reading.Product details

Conan Doyle Classic Reprint Hesketh Pearson 9780243315451 Books Reviews
Pearson's biography of Sir Authur Conan Doyle is a wonderful work that captured the inter working of a man that created one of the best known characters in history. The book follows Doyle from his beginings as a poor doctor to his rise as an author. The book written in 1943 is stright to the point and does not dwell on the leagend that has come from Doyle's work. Pearson shows that by the end Doyle hated Holmes, and felt that he took focus away from his better works. Well Written and short a must read for Holmes fans of all ages.
